How To Hold Chopsticks
| How To Hold Chopsticks |
1. Start with the Bottom Chopstick
Place one chopstick in the crook between your thumb and index finger.
Rest the lower end on the side of your ring finger.
This chopstick stays stationary and acts as a support.
2. Position the Top Chopstick
Hold the second chopstick like a pencil.
It should rest on your middle finger and be controlled by your thumb and index finger.
This is the chopstick that moves to grip food.
3. Align the Tips
Make sure both chopsticks are aligned at the tips.
Uneven tips make it hard to pick up food accurately.
4. Practice the Motion
Keep the bottom chopstick still.
Move the top chopstick up and down to open and close the tips.
Try picking up small items like peanuts or grains of rice to build control.
5. Adjust for Comfort
Don’t grip too tightly relaxed fingers allow better control.
If your hand feels strained, reposition the chopsticks slightly.
