How to Copy and Paste on a Laptop (Windows)
✂️ Step 1: Select the Content
Text: Click and drag your mouse or touchpad over the text to highlight it.
Files/Images: Click once to select, or hold
Ctrl
and click multiple items.
📋 Step 2: Copy the Content
You have two options:
Keyboard Shortcut: Press
Ctrl + C
Mouse/Touchpad: Right-click the selected item and choose Copy
📍 Step 3: Navigate to the Destination
Open the folder, document, or app where you want to paste the copied content.
📥 Step 4: Paste the Content
Again, two options:
Keyboard Shortcut: Press
Ctrl + V
Mouse/Touchpad: Right-click in the destination area and choose Paste
🔁 Optional: Cut Instead of Copy
If you want to move the item (not duplicate it):
Use
Ctrl + X
instead ofCtrl + C
Then paste using
Ctrl + V
